My Strengths

My strengths as a writer are plentiful and fulfilling (if I don't say so myself). But to be completely serious without trying to brag, I think that one of my largest strengths is applying my writing to a rhetorical situation. A perfect example of a current rhetorical situation would be this blog. My audience would be my fellow students. My media is a website. My stance varies depending on what I am writing about (for this current entry, my stance is about my strengths as a writer). My genre is a blog. And finally, my purpose is to inform my fellow students about what I have done as a student in English class. Filling a rhetorical situation is highly crucial to write something that is both useful and coherent. I believe that throughout the entire school year, that I have successfully filled these situations in a way that portrays my writing in the best way possible.

The Area that I need to Work On

The main area that I need to work on as a writer is mainly grammatical. The first of these areas is my word choice/sentence structure. I have always had trouble with this as a writer. A perfect example of this is that fact that I use the word "fact" way too much (I even used it in this sentence as an example).  My sentence structure and fluency is also very lackluster. I honestly think that the only way to improve on these things is to just keep on practicing them. These two areas are extremely important to writing. They are so important, that I dare say that they are close to the fundamentals of writing. If I were to improve on these areas, then my writing would become more fluent and easier to understand. This would truly allow both me and the reader to better enjoy the writing that I work so hard on.

I am a Writer

I personally believe that I am a writer who procrastinates. I don't always believe that this is a bad thing, however. I say this because sometimes being a procrastinator can be very useful for certain situations. It may seem counterproductive, but I find that procrastinating allows me to prepare me thoughts before I begin writing. Another great aspect of being a procrastinating writer is that there is a sudden rush of ideas into my head whenever I know I have to beat a certain deadline. This is very useful whenever I may be working on an assignment that I am completely stumped on. These two aspects of procrastination actually form a very good mixture of good writing. This is because I will be thinking about the assignment for the most amount of time possible, and I will also be able to have new and fresh ideas come form my mind while I am trying to beat a deadline.

My Goals for Next Year

My goals for next year are a bit corny. I would have to say that my first goal for my English year is to just get an A! I know that this sounds shallow, but I do believe that this would allow me to have the most productive English year possible. This is because getting an A would mean that I had worked my hardest on all of the material and focuses that my teacher has given me. That is essentially what I believe that I have done for this English year. I just need to do it for the next year. My second goal for next year is to just write more. At the current moment, I don’t exactly feel like I am writing enough to get the full experience of a writer. One of the ways that I feel like that I can accomplish this is by learning to enjoy writing. I believe that if I enjoy writing, then I will begin to write more. This in turn will allow me to become an even more experienced writer.
